We do not sell your personal data. We do not build personal profiles. We use standard analytics and advertising tools to understand how our site is used and to serve relevant ads.

Who we are

Whyfy ("we", "our", "us") is a visual knowledge platform accessible at SITE_DOMAIN. We help people understand complex topics through visual cards, animations, and interactive explainers.

What information we collect

Automatically collected: When you visit Whyfy, Google Analytics automatically collects anonymised usage data including pages visited, time spent on pages, general geographic location (country and city level), device type, browser, and how you arrived at our site (search, direct, referral). This data does not identify you personally.

Email address: If you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. This is stored securely with Brevo (our email service provider) and used only to send Whyfy updates. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email.

What we do NOT collect: We do not collect your name, phone number, postal address, payment information, or any sensitive personal data through normal site usage.

Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

Google Analytics cookies — track anonymised usage patterns (pages viewed, session duration, traffic sources). These are set by Google and governed by Google's privacy policy.
Google AdSense cookies — used to serve relevant advertisements. Google may use your browsing history across sites to personalise ads. You can opt out at google.com/settings/ads.
Functional cookies — small items stored in your browser's localStorage to remember your preferences (e.g. whether you've seen the gesture hint). These contain no personal data.

Data sharing

We share anonymised analytics data with Google Analytics and Google AdSense as described above. We share email addresses with Brevo for newsletter delivery. We do not share, sell, or rent your personal data to any other third parties.

Data retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 26 months by default. Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. LocalStorage preferences persist in your browser until you clear your browser data.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. To request this, email us at hello@SITE_DOMAIN. For data held by Google, visit myaccount.google.com.

Children's privacy

Whyfy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
